rockaway beach

residential remodel

This Bainbridge Island waterfront residence was given a complete remodel. On the exterior, demolition included roof framing, windows, doors and siding. Inside, the kitchen and baths were gutted. New tie-downs and shear walls were added to bring the structure up to code, seismically.

The existing mansard roof was removed and replaced by new trusses, including attic trusses over the garage, which allowed for the creation of a new bonus room. New windows, siding, front entry and landscaping were also added in addition to a new vaulted ceiling for the master bedroom.

The original footprint was expanded to create a new entry foyer, with direct access to the garage.

Materials include clear fir doors with oil-rubbed bronze hardware, fir-trimmed windows and slate tile floors. The existing kitchen in the home was gutted, relocated and a completely redesigned to highlight sweeping views of Puget Sound and the Seattle skyline. Materials include clear cherry cabinets, granite counter, recycled glass tile back-splash and stainless steel appliances.

In the family room, the original door to the garage was relocated, freeing up floor area. A new propane fireplace was installed in the existing hearth. Cherry crown molding, clear fir window casing and fresh paint complete the room.

The existing master bath was completely remodeled. New fiberglass-clad casement windows showcase the view. A limestone counter-top, cherry cabinets, tumbled limestone wainscot and recycled glass accent tile complete the remodel.
